this was amazing!! the man up front was so sweet and the food was made fresh in the back. i got the phill cheese steak original with the mac and cheese and it’s the best Philly and mac and cheese i’ve ever had, i 100 percent recommend! also only 24 dollars for a whole philly combo and a chili dog.
Fantastic food with a unique twist. The restaurant has a vintage bar from Chicago and a phone booth. Met the owner, she was so sweet. Our servers was fabulous and patient with our first visit. Wings 💯 Sumo Hot dog 🌭 💯 loaded fries 💯 we are moving here and this will be our go to place.
I don't know why I've slept on this place. They've got such cool menu diversity, great values, and delicious options. I had the Chicken Bacon Ranch Philly, and it was great. I had the Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich the last time. And that was also great. The fries are also very good. Great bar and drink options and good service as well. The patio is nice, but a bit sticky and humid right now.
What a pleasant surprise to find this wonderful themed restaurant in an out of the way location in Mooresville. As a Chicago native I was pleasantly surprised so see a Chicago Playbill at the entrance, and as I looked around, a number of photos, memorabilia, and Chicago references on the walls. Despite the name Sumo’s is not an Asian restaurant but has the best Philly cheesesteaks outside of Philly’s sound end. Hot dogs, smash burgers, and the best onion rings I have had in my two years in the CLT region made it a wonderful lunch. At $15 the cheesesteak was big enough that I brought half of it home, making it a great value. Big portions, good food, and reasonable prices are a tough combination to beat. Friendly and attentive servers let us keep an appointment with rapid service. A plus was a spotless bathroom, not always an easy task in a very busy place. I would recommend to all, especially Chicago area ex-pats.
Tried this hidden gem in Mooresville today for lunch. My husband ordered the pimento cheese smash burger and sweet potato fries. I ordered a patty melt with onion rings. WOW!!!!! everything was absolutely amazing. Will definitely be back.
Just moved to the area 6 months ago and have been trying all the local restaurants. Keep coming back to this one. Food is excellent every time, atmosphere is unique, and the service has been great. Really enjoy this place, will keep coming back!
This place is a hidden gem in Mooresville! The bar is Chicago theme and the food is insanely good! Best phillys and smash burgers. Awesome drinks!!
We discovered this place in Oct when we first moved to the area. We have always gotten it to go untill tonight. Our server Anthony had at least 5 tables and was working as the bartender as well! He was very attentive and friendly. The angry smash burger is one of the best burgers I've ever had! The wings were incredible. The staff, quality of food, drinks and the prices are amazing. I would 10/10 recommend this place.
So in all honesty we were trying to go to Monsoon Asian Grill. They were closed so we saw Sumo and they were open. Now I love Monsoon but this place is simply amazing. From the place with its bar that is brought from Chicago from the 1940's 95% of the bar is there. It has history. To the food that was simply perfect in every way. To the service with some of the most friendly staff I have ever experienced. This place is a must. The food was so good. The flavor was done right and they even serve hotdogs directly from Chicago. Trust me try this place you will not regret it.
We got the BLT dog and Korealina bbq Philly sandwich with loaded tots and everything was super delicious! Was actually really surprised at how delicious the kimchi is! So much flavor. Will highly recommend this place.
